Now here’s a violent Islamic movement I could join

August 11th, 2008

From the CSM:

Renewed fighting between Muslim rebels and the Army in the southern Philippines has caused at least eight deaths and forced nearly 130,000 people to flee their homes. The clashes have been sparked by a controversial deal to expand a Muslim autonomous zone in the region, which was created in 1996 as part of a peace accord between the Filipino government and Muslim rebels. The fighting highlights the sectarian tensions that plague the country.

According to the BBC, troops began their attack on Sunday, after Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) rebels failed to leave North Cotabato Province, which is not included in the five-province Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).

Troops began their attack on Sunday, after Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) rebels in North Cotabato ignored a 24-hour deadline to leave the area.

I think al Qaeda needs to come up with a new name that will fit the acronym DVDM. They would get a lot more recruits.

John McCain apparently doesn’t think very highly of Nixon’s and Reagan’s greatest achievements…

June 9th, 2008

Taken from http://www.johnmccain.com/landing/b3.htm

In 1987, Ronald Reagan met with the leader of West Germany, Chancellor Kohn, to deliver this speech. By delivering this speech and ushering in the destruction of the Berlin Wall and the end of the Cold War, Reagan did the world a great deed. He could not have done so if he had taken McCain’s hard-line stance of not meeting with anti-American foreign leaders.

In 1972, Richard Nixon visited Communist China and Soviet Russia, two moves that shocked the world. In doing so, Nixon opened up communications with China, and both China and the U.S. have benefited in numerous ways because of these actions.

So is it really that bad for an American president to want to meet with “anti-American foreign leaders”? Would America and the world be better off if Germany and Berlin were each still divided? Would America and the world be better off if the United States still refused to talk with Communist China?  (Had Nixon never begun talks with China and we still didn’t to this day, would it seem reasonable if the U.S. had refused to send any olympic athletes to Beijing this summer?) Is it truly in America’s best interest to not open up peace negotiations with a country whose two biggest allies are China and Russia?

This is just my opinion, but I’m gonna say to each of these questions, “no.”

“Magic wands”!!!

June 8th, 2008

WAYNE, Mich., June 27, 2000 — Gov. George W. Bush of Texas said today that if he was president, he would bring down gasoline prices through sheer force of personality, by creating enough political good will with oil-producing nations that they would increase their supply of crude.

Watch the video of his recent ideas about gas prices (and magic wands) here. Transcript of this speech is here: reputable source.

Could it be that attacking Iraq senselessly has dissolved Bush’s ability to create “enough political good will with oil-producing nations” to help lower gas prices?
Was he lying, knowing that lower gas prices would mandate a smaller profit margin for his family friends in the oil industry and in the Middle East?
I’m not sure… I mean, Bush and the leader of Saudi Arabia seem to be on good terms, and I think they still have some oil, don’t they?

On a personal note, it would please me on a very, very deep level if one day I could be president and, while smugly answering reporters’ questions, babble incessantly about magic wands. In one sense, it’s hilarious that he can say stuff like this while appearing to be serious, but in another, it’s incredibly sad that this is how the leader of our nation speaks to the public. The man uses conjugations while he speaks, for FSM’s sake!!

A disabled president? Not unless he’s in a wheelchair…

June 8th, 2008

http://www.latimes.com/news/politics/la-na-pension22apr22,1,6562984.story

I don’t know about you, but as a proud American, I’d rather NOT have a disabled person as my country’s leader… unless his initials are FDR, but then, he’d be a corpse, and that’s gross. Nothing against the disabled, but I feel like there are able-bodied folks out there who could be president that wouldn’t make me worried that they might, oh I don’t know, fall and break a hip in the Oval Office.

As for the argument that I should respect his sacrifice of being tortured and blah blah blah, let me just say this. If he’s receiving disability checks, he shouldn’t be working, much less running for president. If he’s NOT truly disabled, then having a job seems more reasonable for a guy his age…… but he shouldn’t be receiving disability checks, because he’s able to work and earn money. I don’t think that’s a hard concept to grasp, do you?

John McCain is the senator that believes that our government would be being “too generous” if a recently-proposed G.I. benefits bill passes as-is. (Yes, this is a web site directly associated with a U.S. Senator and the U.S. government and as it has direct quotes, cannot be questioned regarding its accuracy or truthfulness.) Check the second paragraph, and know that G.I. package bill S.22 wants to give veterans who have fought for a period of 36 months in either Iraq or Afghanistan since 9/11 full tuition, room, board and supplies at any state school, despite the cost. (This is also a web page from U.S. Senator Webb.) Let me emphasize this all for you: John McCain, who, as stated above, still receives a tax-free disability check of roughly $58,000 annually, thinks that it is too generous of the United States government to pay for a soldier to go to a state college or university free-of-charge.

I can think of a couple of state schools that one could attend, where $58,000 per year could cover tuition, room, board, books, etc. Can YOU? (Click the link, go to the bottom of page 3.)

Howard Dean says he’s not taking lobby money either. This is fucking ridiculous. Have these people no decency? How the hell are you going to run a country without lobbyists? Can a puppet dance without a hand up it’s ass!?

Re-rebirth

June 4th, 2008

I just deleted somewhere around 30,000 spam comments from this website. Gotta throw off the dead weight. Probably in there, some legit comments got deleted, and I apologize for that. I realize it’s my fault it got this ridiculous in the first place, but I’m still not going to wade through 30,000 posts to find a few good ones that got moderated.

Anyway, everyone’s passwords got reset i think, so stay tuned as i finish up.

Edit:  I fixed the automatic emailer, so you can use the password reset function to get a new one. Also, you now have to log in to comment. Pain in the ass, I know, but cheap_v1agra and xxxasianschoolgirls ruined it for everybody.
